The purple patch continued this morning with another new bird for the year, a rather expected, given events nationally, Sanderling, which graced the southern flash which coincidentally was where the last one was in 2016. This is the ninth record for the site and takes the year list to 130. This southern flash really is in top notch condition and is the best pool we have for waders, the trust really should make a determined effort to get control / buy the field that holds the south side of meadow flash and this pool so we can control it better. At least todays dog walker put his dogs on a lead when we pointed out we were looking at a rare bird. Unfortunately others are not so understanding such as the guy the other day who walked round the back of this pool ignoring the alarming Lapwings that were protecting their three young. OK Rant over! A Ringed Plover and four Little Ringed plovers were also on this pool this morning whilst yesterdays Barnacle Goose was still present. No sign of the Iceland Gull though today.
