Junior Rangers

Become a Junior Ranger

Are you interested in becoming a Junior Ranger?

We'd love to have you on board!

If you are between 11 and 18 years old and want to get hands-on experience managing landscapes, get in touch. This could include practical hands-on conservation tasks, campaigning and engaging the public to inspire them to care for nature.  Examples of activities that our rangers have taken part in include:

Reed bed management
Tree planting
Wildlife surveys
First Aid training
Creating campaigns
Dry stone walling
Running event stalls
Making bird boxes
Pond management

If you are looking to work in conservation in the future or you just have an interest in the outdoors - we'd love to hear from you.

Sessions run once a month and are led by our expert team. Once you sign up to become a ranger, you will be expected to attend most of the monthly sessions, as this is a long-term commitment.

We currently have groups running at the following locations:

Carsington Water, Ashbourne

The Avenue, Chesterfield

Woodside, Shipley

We are also in the process of setting up new groups for which we are gathering expressions of interest for new members:

Allestree Park, Derby

Derwent Meadows, Derby

Hunloke Community Garden, Chesterfield
