Our courses are accredited by Aim Qualifications and Assessment Group, City and Guilds or The Leadership Skills Foundation. We run training from our classrooms at Carsington Water, Ashbourne and The Whistlestop Centre, Matlock Bath.

Inspiring a Nature Connection in the Early Years Level 1

If you are working with Early Years children or run a playgroup and are looking to connect pre-school children to nature, this accredited 2-day course will give you the skills and confidence to facilitate nature-based outdoor learning and play. Find out about the benefits of outdoor play, how to embed the 5 pathways to nature connection into activities, the impacts outdoor activities may have on the environment and how to mitigate them.

Are you looking to enhance your school's connection to nature? This course follows similar structure as our Early Years certificate, whilst additionally considering the learning needs and abilities of teaching children outdoors throughout all key stages (KS1 - KS3). 

Complete follow up work to gain a certificate accredited at Level 1 by AIM Qualifications.

Understanding Nature Connection for Wellbeing Level 1

There is ever emerging research proving that connection to nature really does make us feel better. This accredited 2-day course will give you the skills and confidence to facilitate nature-based outdoor or indoor based nature connection activities to support participant’s health and wellbeing. Find out about the benefits of connecting with nature and how to embed the 5 pathways to nature connection and five ways to wellbeing into your existing or new activities. You will learn the skills required to plan and deliver a session, create a risk-benefit assessment and consider how to select and look after your site. Complete follow up work to gain a certificate accredited at Level 1 by AIM Qualifications. 

This level one AIM award is designed for health groups, voluntary, community, social enterprise and faith groups or businesses as CPD, or for anyone that would like to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to be able to run nature connection sessions.

Leader of Outdoor Learning Level 2

This accredited 2-day course will give you the skills and confidence to take your learning into nature, using your school grounds or local greenspaces as your classroom. Find out about the benefits of learning outdoors, what your grounds and natural spaces offer for delivering the primary curriculum, risk-benefit assessment and looking after your site. Complete follow up work to gain a certificate accredited at Level 2 by AIM Qualifications.

Forest School Leader Level 3

Looking to connect children or adults with woodlands while helping them realise their own potential? The Forest School ethos is the perfect tool to do this.

Gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver Forest School in your own setting with an accredited Level 3 course.

Covering the theoretical and practical aspects including principles of Forest School, practical tool use, programme planning and learning theory, this course also includes a 2-day Outdoor First Aid course.

Complete a portfolio workbook and practical assessment to gain a certificate accredited at Level 3 by AIM Qualifications.

Introduction to Trainer Skills Level 2

The City and Guilds Introduction to Trainer Skills Course is designed to provide participants with a systematic approach to training. It is a comprehensive introduction to building the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to be an effective trainer.

On completion of the Introduction to Trainer Skills Course, learners will equip themselves, and their employer, with a member of staff who is able to plan, deliver, and evaluate effective training, no matter the content of the subject they are delivering.

The course is based on the training cycle, covering three main areas:

  1. Planning (including session planning)
  2. Delivery (participants will deliver a 10-minute session that they have planned)
  3. Evaluation (self, peer group, and course evaluation).

This is an introductory qualification and is ideal for those with no previous formal training in the models and techniques for training and developing colleagues in the workplace. This qualification is not part of a framework. 

The knowledge and practical skills gained on the course will be assessed by a multiple-choice quiz and an observation of a session designed and delivered by the course participants, on which participants will receive formal feedback.

Award in Sustainability and the Green Environment – Level 2

Accredited by City and Guilds, this qualification is aimed at learners who wish to understand sustainable working practices for a specific job role, future job role and ongoing training. It is especially useful for those who want to work within sustainability or who have been given responsibility for sustainability within their organisations. This qualification is designed for use across all sectors.

This qualification is suitable for those who desire to develop or improve their knowledge and understanding of Sustainability and the Green Environment in a range of industries and sectors. It would be particularly useful for Sustainability Officers and those with job roles which have responsibilities for sustainability reviews and planning within businesses and organisations.

This award will enable learners to develop basic awareness of the Sustainability and the Green Environment. The course will cover factors impacting our environment, sustainability and its affecting factors, short-and long-term impacts of climate change, and managing carbon emissions. It is designed to help you understand sustainable practices for various job roles and is useful for those interested in sustainability or responsible for it within their organizations.
