Apparently the number of Black-tailed Godwits that were present briefly before being flushed by a Sparrowhawk was 9 (SB) not 7.
Later that day, 19th a dark backed Heron seen landing in or behind a reedbed. After about 15 minutes it did walk out and was in the open up to its belly in water. The light was going fast and it was difficult to get any convincing features that could clinch the id. Although its chin/throat & lower face appeared white, its neck often looked grey & contrasted with is body. No dark face markings could be seen. I turned away from the scope for a few seconds, but on looking back, - gone'
No sign today, but 3 Ruff present. 8 Snipe + about 90 Lapwings.
