Extensive flooding over the last 10 days has made the reserve inaccessible. Although water levels remain high, most areas are now accessible although wellies are required. Given the extensive flooded lande throughout the Trent Valley it was not a surprise that Waterbird numbers within the reserve were low. Tufted Duck 149, Gadwall 42, Coot 35, Mallard 30 were the most abundant with 120 Black-headed Gull and 30 Canada Goose. The first winter thrushes (Redwing and Fieldfare) were feeding on the abundance of berries in the hedgerows.
