A very good morning at Witches Oak Water reserve. Highlights were a very smart pair of Smew on Lake 1 with 6 Goosander; the former species is difficult to find in the UK this year with only around 50 reported nationwide. Lake 4 hosted a first for the reserve in the form of 2 Ruddy Shelduck in the company of a Shelduck. A Woodcock was disturbed from the wet woodland. Also notable were 35 Goldeneye, 134 Teal, 124 Tufted Duck and 100 Lapwing. 5 Cetti's Warbler were calling
