An overcast and cool morning, but with good numbers of birds throughout the reserve. The Great White Egret was again on Lake 12. 130 Lapwing on the Lake 9 spit was notable, as were new maxima for the reserve of 90 Cormorant, 21 Grey Heron, 42 Pochard, and 325 Tufted Duck. 8 Cetti’s Warblers were calling. Spraint left on the outflow sluice looks very much like it has been left by an Otter which we know to be visiting the reserve from the River Trent.
