Water levels have been lowered at the reserve to facilitate reedbed work, and as a consequence there are more muddy margins to attract wading birds. 2 Green Sandpipers, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, and 120 Lapwing were joined on the reserve by 13 Grey Heron and 5 Little Egrets. Waterbird numbers are building nicely with 215 Tufted Duck, 200 Gadwall, 170 Teal, 155 Mallard and 10 Shoveler. Swallows are definitely on the move with 70 passing through in just 10 mins with a Hobby also soon to start its migration. Overall definitely starting to feel like Autumn.
