Get Wilder for Nature at FREE Common Farm event this weekend

Residents across the county are being welcomed to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust’s newest nature reserve this Saturday (5th October) to celebrate nature and hear about its vision for a greener, wilder Derbyshire.

Staff and volunteers from the Trust, together with special guests and artists, will deliver a day of free wild activities for people of all ages at Common Farm Nature Reserve, Nether Heage, between 11.00am and 4.00pm.

On the day, visitors can take part in sessions on wild wellbeing, Nature Tots and crafts, as well as talks from our expert team and self-led nature walks. The Trust’s Team Wilder and Community group Earthed Up will also be on hand to give tips on how to take action for nature.

As people wander through the reserve, they can enjoy wild and wonderful tales from storyteller Creeping Toad , catch theatre arts company Babbling Vagabonds present ‘The Wonderful Truck of Fancy Fun’, and listen to music and performances from Furthest From The Sea.

The Trust will also host its 62nd Annual General Meeting at 1pm, where members and supporters can find out about its plans to do more for Derbyshire's wildlife.

Dr Jo Smith, CEO of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, said:

“Earlier this year, thanks to the generosity of thousands of local people, we were able to secure Common Farm for nature and people to enjoy for generations to come.

“It really is a wonderful place to visit and we’re so excited to welcome everyone to the reserve for what will be a really exciting day with lots happening to connect with the nature all around us, and opportunities for us to share more about our plans for this site and our vision for a wilder Derbyshire.”
