Continuing hot and dry with a light SW wind; water levels on the reserve are low, particularly on Lake 9 where large areas of exposed mud is showing. Highlights on the reserve were 3 Green Sandpipers, a flock of 90 Lapwing, and the first brood of Great Crested Grebe that I have seen on the reserve this year. Total counts were Great Crested Grebe 18, Cormorant 3, Little Egret 15, Grey Heron 18, Mute Swan 32, Canada Goose 14, Gadwall 58, Mallard 85, Tufted Duck 234, Moorhen 3, Coot 50, Lapwing 90, Green Sandpiper 3, Kingfisher 1, Black-headed Gull 250 and Common Tern 8.
