Today (11th) was pretty quiet with 24 Teal, 35 Red-legged Partridges, a Little Egret, a latish Swift, distant Peregrine and Hobby and 37 Pied Wagtails. Up to two Hobbies and two Peregrines have been seen fairly regularly during the first ten days of the month whilst Teal have been generally in the mid twenties and Gadwall have been in low double-figures. We've also had a couple of Barnacle x Canada Geese, which are rather subtle. Highlights during the first ten days of the month have included 51 Teal, 34 Gadwall, Common Sandpiper (stayed to 5th) and Green Sandpiper on 2nd. Two Little Egrets, two male Shoveler (one remained to 10th), the first Siskin of the autumn south and 150 Linnets on 3rd. On 4th a juvenile Pochard, two adult and two juvenile Common Terns flew north, adult Yellow-legged Gull and five Grey Wagtails. On 5th two Shoveler again, 57 Red-legged Partridges, Little Egret, four Snipe, Barn Owl in the evening and three Siskins flew south. Two Shoveler on 6th plus two Little Egrets and four Snipe. On 7th Two Shovelers and Little Egret, on 8th Water Rail heard calling and five Yellow Wagtails south and on 9th two Greenshanks (left south-east at 1013), Green Sandpiper, and juvenile Yellow-legged Gull north. On 10th just a Green Sandpiper of note.
