After news came from the RSPB about a hen harrier chick, ringed on Snake Pass this year, which has gone missing over a grouse moor area in Peak District Tim Birch,  Head of Living Landscapes Derbyshire Wildlife Trust said, “We are extremely concerned that one of the four hen harrier chicks that fledged this summer in the Upper Derwent area has now gone missing in suspicious circumstances at Broomhead, a known grouse moor area in the Peak District National Park. We know that there is a strong link between illegal bird of prey persecution and grouse moors. Everyone who visits and loves the Peak District National Park will be alarmed about this development. We all want to see hen harriers return to our upland skies. We urgently need a new future for our uplands where all wildlife thrives and illegal persecution of highly protected birds of prey like the hen harrier is a thing of the past.”
