Excellent visible migration at Carr Vale this morning with more than 1200 identified birds flying south over four hours 0750-1150. Ok so the majority were meadow pipits but 1068 is the third highest day total for the patch and the highest since 2010 when I had 1120 best count being 1605 way back. Also 77 swallow, sand martin, 37 sky lark (1st proper movement of the autumn), 5 siskin, 4 grey wag plus small numbers of finches. Being fully occupied with viz mig very little else to report apart from two wigeon and a peregrine.
