Weekend news from Carr Vale is pretty poor with little to report save for the two hybrid Barnacle x Canadas and two Grey Lag x Canadas still present on 15th when five Pink-footed Geese flew north, there was an increase in Wigeon to 23, still at least six Shoveler, 13 Cormorants, a Golden Plover heard calling, eight Snipe, a colour ringed L B B Gull which unfortunately departed before the ring could be read, a distant Peregrine, three Swallows and a Chiffchaff but best of all the Cetti's Warbler was by the dipping platform and the Marsh Tit from the beginning of the month was still on the embankment. On 13th 133 Teal and 167 were the highest counts of the year, nine Wigeon, 12 Gadwall and eight Shoveler but little else apart from two Chiffchaffs. On a very wet 14th 12 Wigeon, 119 Teal, 145 Mallard, seven Shoveler, Water Rail, six Snipe and two Peregrines.
