Wild Trent Challenge - Fundraising tips

JustGiving no longer charge UK charities to use their platform for fundraising; this means we can do even more for wildlife. We've set up an official Wild Trent Challenge event on JustGiving to link your fundraising to. Read our tips below, set up your fundraising page here and let's do something awesome for our wildlife!

Tell Your Story

Maybe you’ve never ran more than 10 meters. Maybe you have an emotional connection to the Trent Valley. Maybe you simply want to do something amazing to help wildlife. Whatever your story, tell it and share it. Be creative and bold with your writing to encourage more donations.

Add a Wild Photo

Make that page pop with a really wild profile picture! Take a snap up a tree, by a river, rolling in the grass and let your supporters know you’re ready for a wild challenge. You can encourage more donations after the event by uploading your wet and wild ‘I did it!’ photo.

Set Yourself a Target

Fundraising pages with a target raise on average 45% more than those without. Decide on how much you want to raise (the minimum for this event is £100), set the target on your page and hey, if you smash it before the event, you can always increase it.

Let the World Know

Most of your donations will come from friends, family and colleagues so be sure to share far a wide. We bet you’ll be surprised by who and how many share your passion for wildlife or are inspired by your story. Use social media, email and WhatsApp and keep sharing all the way up to and after event day.

If your donors are UK taxpayers, ensure they complete the form in full (including ticking the Gift Aid box). For every pound donated, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust can claim an extra 25p in Gift Aid.

Your colleagues can be a big source of donations. You could start by popping your sponsorship form or a poster in the staff room, sending round your JustGiving page or editing your email signature with a link to your fundraising page.

Boost your fundraising at work and with friends by hosting a wildlife themed cake sale, organising a wildlife quiz or setting up a wild sweepstake e.g. how many ducks did you see on your wild challenge. Perhaps even have a 'Wear it Wild' day at work where everyone dons a wildlife themed item of clothing.

Let your imagination run wild!  

Your workplace might have a Matched Giving Scheme, or they might be interested in setting one up. This is where your employer matches what you raise and sends the donation to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. How cool is that!
