Weekend news from Carr Vale. Remains cold and fairly unproductive. On 13th two Grey Lag Geese, 4 Gadwall, 23 Teal, Water Rail, an extra Oystercatcher, 140 Herring Gull,, 50 Great Black-backed Gull, six Jays and a Grey Wagtail. On 14th the first Reed Warbler of the year also still eight Wigeon, similar numbers of Gadwall and Teal, male and two female Pochard, two Water Rails, three Oystercatchers, Peregrine on the usual pylon, Yellow Wagtail and the first brood of ten Mallard ducklings on the river which have probably been around since 12th as on that date I received a report of a Heron swallowing a duckling.
