As expected it was relatively quiet for birds on the reserve with most raising broods of young and/or going through moult, This was evidenced by the presence of over 150 eclipse Mallard along with 34 Gadwall and 73 Tufted Duck. Good numbers of Heron (8), Egret (7) and Cormorant (32) was an indication that there is clearly plenty of food around. There were at least 6 broods of Coot, 1 of Mute Swan, and 1 of Mallard.
