About the reserve

Throughout 2019, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust’s staff and volunteers have been working to turn a field at Peak Shopping Village into a richer haven for wildlife.

Visitors to the shopping centre will be able to take time out and discover nature on their doorstep.  Hidden away on site you can find a flower meadow, a new home for bees, butterflies and bugs.  A woodland, orchard and dry stone walling which will attract a wider variety of birds, animals and insects.

Take a tour of the reserve along our beautiful trail, taking you through the different areas whilst providing handy hints about what to look out for.   A beautifully carved wooden bench also provides the perfect spot to watch kingfishers and dippers flying up and down the river.
