Water levels remain high but the reserve is accessible with Wellington boots. The hedgerows are full with large flocks of noises Redwing and Fieldfare feeding on the berries. Two Sparrowhawks were also taking the opportunity by picking off a Redwing or two! The first Goldeneye have appeared, along with a single Goosander. Snipe are taking advantage of the flooded ground with a count of 18 disturbed into flight as I walked the access tracks. Total waterbird counts were Little Grebe 2, Great Crested Grebe 10, Cormorant 11, Grey Heron 6, Mute Swan 5, Wigeon 30, Gadwall 18, Teal 48, Mallard 62, Shoveler 9, Tufted Duck 90, Goldeneye 6, Goosander 1, Moorhen 1, Coot 31, Lapwing 30, Snipe 18, and Black-headed Gull 130.
