Late October& the first few days of November remained quiet bird-wise. Redwings & Fieldfares have arrived, but the ones that have stayed are low in numbers with few small flocks of up to c35 passing over. A flock of 35 Skylarks flying down the valley on 12th Oct was a welcome sight and although this species typically moves through in October, numbers in recent years have been very lean & far from the hundreds that passed through in the 1980s.. Other species seen, involved a Goosander for 3+ days from 23rd, first Jack Snipe on 20th. There was also records of Grey Wagtail which we believe to be the same, as were 2 Stonechats wintering on Big Marsh. Meanwhile, seen & photographed by one regular ( C.P.) was 2 Bearded Tits on 30th October, this being only the second record.
