The project sees the Trust focus on working with community groups within the Arboretum and Normanton areas of the city.
Kirsty, who is leading the work for the Trust says, “Our work to improve people’s wellbeing is more important than ever before. We’re seeing a large disconnect between people and nature which we know from countless studies that this leads to a decline in people’s wellbeing. Combine this with the difficulties brought on by Covid, it’s really important that we help people discover and feel confident in their local green spaces and find ways to naturally feel better.”
At the end of March the Trust will embark on a five week programme of workshops with Women’s Work, focussed around the five ways to wellbeing. And in May, to mark National Mental Health Week starting May 10th, they have teamed up with Spiral Arts to offer creative workshops and an arts trail around Derby Arboretum.
