Pride and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust
Pride Month to us is about putting fairness and equity first.
It calls for us all to look to history and to acknowledge the difficult journey faced by the LGBTQ+ community that has brought Pride to be. It shows the contributions we all must make towards ensuring we live in a just and fair society. Through Pride, we advocate for this and of course, acknowledge that Pride month is also a celebration of diversity.
We’re not there yet and there is so much more for us to do - but we’re doing everything we can to be equitable and inclusive. Our commitment must go beyond words - a valued and diverse community encourages acceptance, personal growth, critical thinking, harmony as well as creativity and innovation. We cannot achieve our vision of a wilder Derbyshire unless everyone can contribute without fear or judgement.
We want to embed change from within, whether it be promoting inclusive language throughout all our communications, being visible about support networks, and normalising discussions around gender and pronoun use.
We WANT to do more. We will continue to highlight and put forward real acts of change, being bold and tenacious in doing so. We do so for the benefit of our wider community, our colleagues, volunteers, members, supporters, friends and for nature and wildlife.
As a Trust we recognise the part we play by ensuring our organisation and the work we do enables people to live free from fear of discrimination and prejudice.
Join us in acknowledging and celebrating Pride. We and you are not alone in doing so, and between us let's ensure nature is accessible for everyone 💚
